Red Velvet by Iffer & Betty Rebel is an exploration of the influence of colonization on indigenous art and fashion to celebrate International Woman's Days 100th birthday, as part of Sistahood Cabaret's Grand Mamas!—an evening of performances that pay homage to the lives and stories of women. Stay tuned for video of the performance!

  • All humans do bad things, but the point is that revolutionaries can change the world and their lives - even as just one person. How many hundreds of thousands indigenous people were murdered during colonization? We still wear the clothes, live in the houses and use the technologies of the white man.

Empowerment is as much about acknowledging the past as it is about moving on from it to create a future. I'm glad this piece evoked emotion or provoked thought for you!. Thanks for your comment.

  • Awesome music and visuals! You had a photo of Che and Castro, how many hundreds of thousands of people did they murder that wanted freedom? Freedom of religion...I wouldn't imagine that all the mothers that Che impregnated and ran from (he has a lot of children that he never looked after)

will be celebrating Che on this day! Aside from the communist killers it was something very new and incredible! Five stars!
