Protoman's Twentieth Match!
And it's a doozy.
Luis asked me to try out his Athena and Adon after managing to take on his Chipp and win.
This was originally supposed to be a Protoman vs Athena fight but... no.
I don't know what Luis did when coding his Athena, but I don't think she qualifies for just "a little" cheap. She evaded everything I threw at her. Ev. Ry. Thing.
So instead, we get Adon, who reminds me very much of fighting Burter again. Except this one doesn't give you the courtesy of stopping his insane assault to gather energy.
He hits fast, hard, and recovers like a madman. Not to mention his invincibility during his roll, flip kick, and uppercut, though he's not nearly on par with Athena. Watching her mow over Wolverine71113 in an AI fight and extending a fight with Sephiroth to several minutes because he can't land a single hit on her, even with full screen specials? Yeah...
Back to Adon.
He repeatedly will pull off a long combo chain ending with a super that will frequently take off 75%+ of Protoman's health. And then sit where he'll land and spam insanely fast low kicks to get more hits in. Talk about dirty fighting. Not to mention the stuns from most of his attacks seem to be JUST long enough for him to pull you into one of his devastating combos with frightening ease.
Two things made winning this fight possible for me. One was abusing the lag start up time for Adon's AI in the fights and getting him into a corner. I don't like having to manipulate an AI like this, but otherwise I would never get any real damage in. Like Burter, it was a "pound or be pounded" situation.
Second, timing Protoman's sliding kicks. After Adon's rolls there's a small window when you can catch him and get him on the ground. Also, Despite Adon's move priorities constantly overriding mine, Protoman's sliding kick actually defeats his bounce-off-the-wall flying kick when used at the right time. Same when he's landing from his uppercut.
Using his normal hyper moves was a definite no-no, since both Adon and Athena will abuse their invincibility-inducing moves to avoid it and attack me. I also noticed at some points where I'd be BEHIND him and he'd still hit me. Not fun at all.
Sorry Luis, I did my best, but I'm not going to attempt Athena again.
Kangetsu just isn't up to the challenge, I guess.
Still, take from this fight what you may, and if anyone else has some requests, feel free to ask...
Just... not something Athena level insane, please. ^^;;

great fight, athena is beatable with normal charactes.
watch my video "me versus all of my ai's"
burter and lucy fernandez are capable of beating athena.
i made that athena's ai like that, only because it was a experiment and i like to fight my own ai's

Nice job taking down that bastards, overpowered, cheating AI's. They remind me of an bastardized version of Drago's AI(which are really cheap). Luis has a reputation for making broken AI's like that, especially with overpowered characters like any one of N64Mario's creations. If you combine N64Mario's overpoweredness + broken AI, that character just owns the cheapest guys around easily.
