A 3D animated sequence of a futuristic sci-fi space station as it orbits planet Earth to the sound of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra playing Also Sprach Zarathustra. Views of the globe in the background are seen as the craft opens its shield, changes shape and moves through space. This is my homage to Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C Clarke's 1968 classic: 2001 - A Space Odyssey. When I first saw that film it changed my perception of things (as with everyone from Bowie to Spielberg) and had a big effect on my approach to creativity. (I thought going back one step in the alphabet and using the initials HAL instead of IBM for the name of the onboard computer was a camp stroke of genius)! Oh yeah and if you are wondering how the space station actually works - it's all done with anti matter and folding space :-)

  • So many design flaws and inconsistencies. What function does the iris that we see opening in the beginning (0:25) serve? The outer ring rotates while the six transport tubes connecting to it don't rotate and apparently pass right through the ring, but there is no space for the tunnel to pass through in the rotating ring. And then the outer rings center mass splits open? WTH?! Props for making a fun video, but minus several thousand for any design cohesion.

  • @digital1970 Yeah but what you didn't know is it's made with multiphasic chrystaline anti-matter so you can do all that shit without any worries!

  • Like the texture

  • @dgreatunknown which texture did you like - there are a few in there!

  • Nice. Would be great to have you in the mix at Chronos.

  • @Pandoranage4101 I would love to be in the mix at Chronos - what is it?

  • @pliosaurus

Who are you to judge how long humanty will survive.

  • brilliant video

  • ah fuck it! lets just build death stars and space fleets, then go and attack other planets, LETS CONQUER THE UNIVERSE! FUCK ALL THEM ALIENS UP! SHOW EM WHOS BOSS!

  • This will never happen, not in a million years, not in a 1,000 years. Partly because humanity won't last that long.

  • @digital1970 Some stanford torus designs had an internal structure that would rotate within a static outer shell so some of the odd perspectival elements would make sense in that respect. The iris door and disappearing center of of the torus on the other hand would be highly disconcerting under normal circumstances.

  • @rabin66 half the moon ;)

  • @KOZMIKELTIKING

Well technically the iss can never become this because...you know...

Nasa is disbanding it within 10-20 years...

  • @bagofbarn
