There was a time when some critics tried to reject RD as "too westernized" even though the music he made was superb. It is sad that RD's talent was universally acknowledged only after his death. This song is a proof of his composing as well singing abilities. I doubt if anybody can create something like this today even with all the technology (synthesizers, recording software, etc.) available out there. P.S.: Notice the piece before the song. Excellent background score!

@cadmiumblu :if god makes another Helen I will marry her without thinking a split of second.

If asha bhosla is given to sing this song now,she will not be able to sing properly because it is very difficult song..
I like most///

This song was the first Hindi film 45 I acquired and it solidified my love of the genre. By far one of R.D. Burman's best performances both as an arranger and a singer!

@zomdiczapper7 I couldnt agree with u more mate. In pictures RD looks like the calm composed accountant type of guy but when u hear his compositions u cant help but think he was a real nutter on the inside. he uses drums so well to keep the momentum up and play with the rythm, i think he's the only indian composer to use break beats like the amen break and mix in jazz and afrolatin styles into indian music!!!! (hu wuda thought eh?). he truly is Thee Maestro!!!
