While I was back home during thanksgiving, I wanted to get some footage of the newly opened Biloxi Bay Bridge. As I drove down Hwy 90, I found there is still a lot of work to be done so I recorded footage of a lot of the places I used to visit when i was a kid.
I apologize for all the hand shaking in the video, I was in the passenger seat of the car and was trying to record as much as I could while we drove.

  • Thank you for posting this video. I don't usually post but this is inspiring. I was born and raised in the Gulfport/Biloxi area. Now I'm 24 in Baltimore working on my PhD in physics. My classmates must be tired of me talking about how much I miss the beautiful, diverse coast. There's no place like it. At the beginning of Edgewater Village used to be a Haggen-dazs that me and my friends would ride our bikes to. I'm glad to see developement but I just hope the communtiy is maintained too!

  • Dillards opened March 1st 2008! And It looks great!

  • I rode my Harley from North TX back home to Biloxi in Aug of 07. I was surprised at the amount of destruction still evident. I'm also proud that people are rebuilding without the hype that New Orleans is getting.

Your video is really telling. A great job of documenting.

  • Wow... we lived in Biloxi (Sunkist) for 3 years prior to the storm. Great video, thanks for posting. We've not been back but hope to get there.

  • Well it is definitely a region that is still rebuilding. Gulfport definitely has a lot of work to do along the beach, but up near the interstate it has returned to life as usual. There are plenty of restaurants, a huge wal-mart, sam's, outlet mall, incredible movie theater, etc. Obviously the closer to the beach you get, the more of this stuff you will start to see. The tidal surge is what did the majority of the damage that still hasn't been fixed.

  • I am the first, yay! I love this video, it's great. I really am proud of the progress of Biloxi, that strip mall I remember it still being gutted out from Katrina. When will Dillards reopen? Edgewater mall is cool. Thank you so much for the great video. The Hard Rock was super nice inside too. I can't wait to live there again, it was awesome! Take care, and thank you!
