This year China's trade deficit with the United States is expected to top $250bn, as imports flood in and exports fail to find a market with Chinese consumers.

In return, jobs have flowed into China from the US, a trend both US presidential candidates have vowed to reverse.

But how serious is the problem facing the next American President and beyond the political rhetoric, is there anything he can really do?

In the third of his special series, Tony Cheng traveled to the heartland of US heavy industry to find out.

  • I tried to find made in America but mostly I couldn't.. Why?? Are we lazy?? Hmm maybe too much money given to politicians. Can we please bring America back or our young generation too busy getting high??

  • @kingsman565 that was barely a concentration camp. the U.S just relocated them but still fed them and provided them with services. IT was still wrong but not hostile. you should of seen what the japanese did to the chinese during those racist times. And EVERYONE back then was racist as fuck.

  • @ervin920 if only you weren't such a simple thinker, Americans are WILLING to bust their asses, which alot of them do. It's the fucking companies and government that are ruining their society by shipping all their work off to a country that manipulates their currency making all the work done here uncompetitive. Which is bullshit because it needs to stop. Even other neighboring countries like korea and japan are forced to do this to because of the uncompetitiveness.

  • Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me , even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the store house, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will open up the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to recieve it. Malachi 2:8

  • more reasons for Americans to cry pathetically and be mad at china. here's an idea! why don't u Americans crawl into a tiny shipping crate and illegally slip ur way into china for about 70,000? when u get there, u can wash my dishes and wipe my ass for a living. then ur know how other nations and other nationalities felt when u were great.

  • @Oriah USA manipulate their currency.

  • @Oriah

Every country and every people has the right to work hard and move up towards a better life. If US people don't work hard and study hard and keep competitive, bad for them they can't keep a good living standard. Be born in a hi-income country is no secure for a good life. Period.

  • China is crowded and they manipulate their currency.

So let's vote Donald Trump for president in 2012..!!

And make these Chinese sweat for their stolen money..!

  • Our politicians and President is powerless to do this. It would take a war to reverse things. This is not to mention how corrupt the US is now.
