Was it not Laurence Olivier (in a Radio Times interview) who said... 'The American accent is quite easy to achieve, one simply switches off one's brain and keeps talking talking talking' !!
-
Aaaah! It cuts off just before he answers the question and there is nothing that continues the interview! That's brutal! I really want to know!
I know he's gotta be sick of being asked about it, but it's just so incredibly good! He's a natural! I wouldn't think he would exactly laugh at a butchered British accent. He thought Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins was atrocious. Practically an act of war is how he put it.

James Lipton's "English" accent sounds as though it's three parts James Mason to one part Laurence Olivier - with slight overtones of constipation.
-
Hugh Laurie has to be so sick by now of people inquiring about his accent as House.

@dykesy30 There is no such thing as a British accent - it is either English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish, and there are scores of variations of each.
Hugh Laurie's own voice is so wonderful I couldn't bear to watch him using an American accent. He was born to be Bertie Wooster.

ROFL >.<

I will pay if anyone can find an interview of Hugh Laurie by an American that doesn't address his accent.
