beautiful! my agility dog will never be going to the invitationals because she is too slow and we have trouble making time(usually only 5 to 10 seconds under). plus being an australian shepherd she has way to much competition. We are going to try and get our MACH and that'll be it. I've never seen a Dane in agility around here. But there is a woman at my kennel club who runs a Bernese, much smaller dog that a dane I know, but still quite rare in agility.

Congrats he's amazing! I want to show and own danes as well as compete in agility, scent hurdling flyball and another dog sports I can find. I don't agree with cropping just for show dogs, as their ears aren't going to be damaged trotting around a ring every weekend, however for competition purposes, to avoid injury I think it's alright. I like that I have a choice, I will be showing CKC and it is not mandatory for the ears to be cropped. It's not even a fault which is nice.

very cool =) who says great danes are lazy? Mr. Bojangles is an inspiration look at him go
ps. ur dog is great. he is doing a very good job. and i have a question about the ears, why u cut the ears ? only for good looking or u have a reason to this? `in germany is forbidden to cut the ears.

It's interesting really, because Europe was the first to crop the ears. Then they made it forbidden. The original purpose was so that when they were hunting wild boar, the animal could not hook their tusks into the ears, drag the dog down and injur or kill it. The reason we chose to crop our two Great Danes is because we are very active with them in performance sports, and they are much easier to care for - avoids ear infections too. Often times, natural ears get damaged during such activities.

Hello, I'd much rather hear from you, than be concerned about your English. You are doing just fine! Great Dane, Great German, Great Dog! We have a new boy now, Jackpot. His training is going great. He's a Blue, very happy, talented, fun. I'll have to see about getting some video up on him. Mr. Bojangles is healthy, retired from agility and we are so blessed from the many experiences we have had, and continue to have. Thanks to you and all who comment to us. Zee Marie :-D

lovely I cant get my dogs off my moms bed I even try waving a biskit (treat) in front of there nose! It doesnt work do you guys have any sugestions?
dogshenry 3 years ago
Hee hee hee, we understand completely. Suggestions? Sure! First, observe your dog(s) natural behavior to see when they are active and when they are not. It may just be you are waving that bisquit in front of their noses during their nap time. When you learn what time(s) of the day they are more active, make note of it and be active with them. Going for a walk or a hike in a new environment is sure to get them curious and interested in the world around them. Some dogs, though, are just laid back.
