@gothatway09 Mondale was also too much of a policy wonk, I suppose people saw him as very boring and technical, but give him credit for beating out Gary Hart for the nomination (Hart was much more popular and was initially ahead of Mondale in the polls). Also Reagan was very nonspecific about his plans to balance the budget and trim the deficit, Mondale was blunt and honest by announcing that he planned to raise taxes. That didn't sit too well with voters.

@sean2015 That was something about those debates that really surprised me, when you see retrospectives of those debates you see the clips of Reagan displaying his overwhelming personality and charm with a quick quip about age or some other joke, but if you watch the debates in full I was amazed at how well Walter Mondale actually did against Reagan. Mondale held his own extremely well and challenged Reagan with well thought out points, but it didn't matter. Reagan was way too popular.

@Enslaved10 People has not realised (WTF) any such thing! Obama won cause he campaigned more conservative than McCain. It's what Liberals always do. Whatever it takes to acheive the goal in front of you, then reveal the truth when it's too late to reverse the decision. They act conservative on the campaign trail, and then govern from the left. America is turning away from liberalism.

No way. Mondale never had a chance, running against a popular incumbent with an improving economy. Besides that, he was too liberal, and never could disassociate himself from Carter's failed legacy.
Funny thing was that he outperformed Reagan throughout most of the debates, but he made a mistake by being too honest about his intention to raise taxes.

Being liberal isn`t a problem anymore. Obama was the most liberal U.S. Senator and was elected president with 53% of the votes. People has finally realised that liberlism is good! Thank god, conservatism has failed. It`s been proven wrong! Look at the last 8 dark hard years of conservative hell-It`s over, thank you Jesus!
