très sexties super l'original

Jackie wrote more hits for others than she had of her own. Great talent and very underated and ignored.
-
@Thesupreme96 that's why it's called a classic cuz it's old but good

I heard this today on the radio by The Detroit Cobras.
I remember the original hit from the 1960s but can't remember now who had the hit.
What I NEVER knew was that the GREAT Jackie DeShannon wrote it.
WOW... her songs are as timeless as rock'n'roll.

Y'know, I really wish Julie London had done a cover of this song. I think it would translate nicely to a more jazz feel like hers.

A song from the 60s about Domestic Violence. Break the spell and leave the abuse.

@Thesupreme96 It should read: I like this song because it's old, LOL!

A couple of years ago, I needed to know what year Jackie first recorded this song and also what year any version by her was first released. I see the answer to the latter is in your description. What year is this demo from? Belated thanks for the partial answer.

@rslitman I guess it's from 1963, but it could be 1964 as well.
