The National Geographic World Championship is a biennial geography competition for teams of students 16 years of age and under from around the world. The purpose of the program is to focus attention on the ability of today's students to meet the challenges of tomorrow's workplace.

The two-day competition includes hands-on geography activities as well as questions about physical, cultural, historical and economic geography. Teams have been gradually eliminated from the competition and only three teams move on to the final round. This exciting live finale is hosted by Alex Trebek of the game show JEOPARDY!
