Channel 9 had great news opens until 2002. This was one of my favorites.

Actually, the city of license was moved to Secaucus in 1983; it was the studios that transferred there in Spring 1986.

if i remember this correctly rolland smith used to be a reporter in chicago.but i cant recall which station.

The reason the announcer says "From the newsroom" is that there was so much production going on at the time that the news moved from "Studio C" into the newsroom to accomodate "Steampipe Alley" in Studio C. The opening voice-over was promoting the move.
