Actually, the last time I ran a broadband test on my LG Dare here in Boone the download speed was around 1.8Mpbs which is quite good to be in a small town out in the middle of nowhere I think. Also, the upload speed was around 800Kpbs I think. I was pretty impressed with those results.
Very interesting review. Actually, I am in NC myself. Specifically at ASU in Boone and I have to agree. Verizon has excellent coverage throughout NC and especially good coverage for mountain locations versus AT&T. As for their broadband network I have found it to be very good in this area and throughout NC. In fact, if I could not get Cable or DSL at a location where I lived I would probably use VZ broadband as an alternative (because its way better than being on a satellite/hughesnet etc)
can you paly Xbox live with this in a rural area?

Just wait until VZ has their LTE 4G coverage next year. I read today that Charlotte will have LTE by the end of 2009!
