If Adam and Eve populated the planet, why don't we have major inbreeding problems like mental and physical retardation?

we do.

That's why we need to marry distant relatives these days.

It increases our chances of less problematic offspring.

The 3rd generation of Adam and Eve would have been 100% inbred, since A + E's children would have had to mate. It's highly unlikely that these children would have been able to breed successfully in their adult lives, the gene pool would be so shallow, not to mention that life expectancy and medical care was extremely limited in that time. Even in this day and age, it would be nothing short of a miracle if two people were able to repopulate the earth.

That's because you're projecting today's conditions upon Adam and Eve.

Remember, they were the original creation.

Therefore, they were perfect, without any genetic defects. It took several hundreds of years after the fall for the genetic deficiencies to accumulate.

You'll notice Adam lived to be 930.

By the time the flood hit, people were only making it to around 400.

Shortly after the flood, it was around 200.

And, today, we're blessed to get to 100.

Look seriously do any of you religious types ever take the time out to review what you yourselves believe ?

Think about other faiths perspectives - they must seem rediculous to you and to them your belief appears close to insane.

From what I hear Christ(if there ever was such a chap)had a few good ethical ideas.

I find the God concept inadiquate on too many levels.

You're right.

Jesus has some really good ethical ideas, like paving our way to heaven with his sacrificial gift of his life in exchange for our eternal salvation.

You have 2 choices:

1) pay for your own sins.

or

2) find a qualified person to pay them for you.

That's all there is.

Last time I checked, Adam disobeyed too. They were BOTH at fault, all of mankind was at fault. It is true that God knew we would fall, but the reason He went with His plan was that it would be the ultimate expression of His Love. Man would fall, and only by the death and resurrection of God Himself could man be restored.

Why was Lucifer allowed to enter the Garden? God gives everyone, including Lucifer, free will. Lucifer chose his own way instead of God's way, and so did we. WE ARE GUILTY.
