@lauraleesmithagain Probably like it was discovered that raptors had feathers. There were fossilized imprints. Who knows? Apparently there was a hair-less mammoth in South America.

I always wondered why they are called wooly mammoths. How the hell do they know that mamoths were Wooly? All we have of them is their bones. How can you tell a mammoth was even wooly by that?
