Urdu is a beautiful language but Lata is not what she is because of any one language. Listen to Tera Mera Pyar Amar i do not know if it is in Hindi or Urdu but it is one of her best

This song and the scenes of this film haunt me. Sorry to see that worn out Hindi vs Urdu bullshit. Who cares? It's beautiful. One of my great grandfathers was hired to get the Italians out of town. Nearly all of his descendents married Italians. All my ancestors were enemies but I love so many things that are French, English, Spanish, Algerian, Jewish, or Irish etc. just as I love music from Pakistan and India. In art all that stupid limited identity shit can piss off.
