Sankara was going along the street one day with his pupils to take bath in the Ganges when he met a Chandala who was also passing along the street with his dogs by his side. The disciples of Sankara shouted and asked the Chandala to clear off the road. The Chandala asked Sankara: "O, venerable Guru! You are a preacher of Advaita Vedanta and yet you make a great difference between man and man. How can this be consistent with your teaching of Advaitism? Is Advaita only a theory?". Sankara was very much struck by the intelligent query of the Chandala. He thought within himself, "Lord Siva has assumed this form just to teach me a lesson". He composed then and there five Slokas called the 'Manisha Panchaka'. Every Sloka ends thus: "He who learnt to look on the phenomena in the light of Advaita is my true Guru, be he a Chandala or be he a Brahmin"

  • @gokulakrishna21 Yes, but the relevant question is: how do you describe Krishna. Is he just a separate lord on a distant throne? or does he reside in all of us, and us in him? (The answer is yes-- antaryami!) Since this quality of Krishna is true, then it follows that Krishna, or paramatma, is us, and we are it also. We only appear to be separate, but in the ultimate state of reality we are not. This is the highest wisdom.

  • @Nejiboud Sanatana Dharma.

  • The universe is Maya or illusion ..seeming to be etrnal but it is subject vyle of birth and death only atma or pramatma is immortal .It does not change and is timeless

  • @Proslambanomen0s tell me then what does twice born christian mean?

in your lack of understanding twice born means this, your born in physical, and your second birth is of knowledge, unless you think people are born smart?....christians had told indians twice born means your life is worth more,

who is chandlar, dog eater, these people are those who have not taken the steps of truth, a dog eater, is a person who is not found the higher truth. Twice born is knowledge.nothing else.

  • this "manisha Panchakam".

  • Sankara desika met saranam!!

  • If you think that you are God that's means you are dog !!!!

Don't you know that Krishna is God ? Don't you know Bhagavad-gita? Krishna in this sacred book has very nicely explained that He is the Supreme Personnality of Godhead, the origin of everything, the Lord of everyone ?

Krishna has repeated again and again that He is the Supreme Lord "Govindam adi-purusam tam aham bhajami".

    Don't you know all this?

Srila Prabhupada Ki Jai ! Hare Krishna !
