Vintage speedway from New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand (circa 1960).
This is video my Father took on 8mm film. He used to race here during the 50's and 60's and was then President of the Speedway Club until it folded during the late 60's. (dates to all be confirmed).
Racing is faster nowdays but it's not better, in fact it's probably not as entertaining as watching those skinny tyre little midgets hang it out on the cushion. Speed has probably ruined racing, ever faster speeds don't make it any more fun to do or to watch.
