Brief description of the neurocognitive condition aphasia.

We didn't have any articles for this, and I've based myself on the guest lecture and slides by Professor, Dr. Peter Mariën for all the information regarding aphasia.

Special thanks to Sarah Scott and SymphUK for letting me use the video. I wish you a speedy recovery and the best of luck for the future!

  • NERD!

No, actually I like these videos more than the 'news clips'- anyone with a sense of humour can bring these out somewhat successfully- these require some intelligence to make and actually teach us something.

+1 for this type of video.

    @ASFALT21

    I second his question.

  • @MiloDaemon Haha, thank you very much! I enjoy making videos like these.. When the holiday starts I'll see if I can go through some old course books and discuss those :)

  • Love this, what do you study?

  • @Dazultra I have a BA in languages (English and Dutch) and I'm getting my MA in English this year :)

  • Fien can't you get back to making more news clips? I understand that you find your course faschinating and its soothing just to listen to your voice but the subjects are sometimes a bit to heavy I feel ;)

  • @DrGkvack Will do one soon, once all my papers and thesis has been handed in :)

  • Thank you! This is helpful for my class.

  • Great, informative video. I'm interested in this topic.

  • My favorite language-related brain lesion was a man who had a tumor in his anterior cingulate gyrus. He knew two languages, Italian and Friulian, and he could still speak either one if he chose to. But he lost the ability to stay in one language without paying attention. If he just talked, every sentence got one of the two languages at random.

He also lost his lifelong fear of airplanes and started telling dirty jokes all the time. The anterior cingulate gyrus is a funny place.

    Peace!

  • so strange that I was obsessed with studying Aphasia yesterday.

I even messaged SynchUK yesterday who uploaded the clip you put in this video of the young girl.

    It's coincidental of course :p

  • make more please!

  • ΑΦΑΣΙΑ.

Great video by the way. Glad science has advanced but in some ways we are still pretty crude.

  • Hi twinklybird,

Really great info' there, thanks. I know someone with the (brooker?) thing and if I can recall enough, of what you said I can maybe help them?

Sorry for any confusion on the disease name.

    Take care,
