LOUIS COMFORT TIFFANY, Musée du Luxembourg, Paris 16 September 2009 - 17 January 2010
This dynamic exhibition brings together some 160 pieces of work comprising stained-glass windows, vases, lamps, jewels, mosaics, drawings, photographs and watercolours from one of the most talented American artists in the world. Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933) was the son of Charles Lewis Tiffany, the founder of the legendary Tiffany & co. in New York. Beautifully ornate, delicate and dramatic, his works are divided into six sections: Tiffany's early career, his work as an interior designer, his time spent with the Parisian art dealer Siegfried Bing, the stained-glass windows, the Favrile glass vases and the expansion of his company focusing on the lamp and decorative object aspects of his business. You will not be disappointed by this unique exhibition which highlights the genius and versatility of Louis Comfort Tiffany.
