Using the multi-sensory activities in WatchWord (published by Sopris West), students develop the phonological, letter recognition, and letter/sound matching know-how necessary to become natural, fluent readers. They learn to form letters correctly and to understand letter names and sounds. As their mastery increases, children progress to blending letter sounds into words and then to reading two- and three-letter words. By the end of the WatchWord program, all students have a solid start in the reading fundamentals necessary to thrive academically.
This video clip shows a teacher asking students to create an object for each letter sound that is introduced in order to help them remember that sound.
