@ANewMan17 The difference? Galileo was using science and the "majority" that "outvoted" him was using religion, convention, and the beliefs they found convenient. Galileo's methods enabled the development of all modern observational sciences. He is regarded as the father of modern physics. The minority of "scientists" that oppose climate change aren't using new methods that revolutionize the field, they're outliers with often questionable credentials. Perry's analogy doesn't work at all.

"Find out what the science truly is before you start putting the American economy in jeopardy." Hhhhmmm, how could we find out what the science truly is? Maybe by asking the scientists what they think. Ooops, nevermind!

Biology teaches that the limit to life on earth is available carbon dioxide in the air. By the afternoon green plants in light have used up all the available carbon dioxide. The fossil fuels were part of the 85% of life which died with the dinosaurs. Burn the fuel get that life back!

@JonThm The part about CO2 encouraging plant growth is bullshit because plants are not limited by the amount of CO2 in normal conditions, they're limited by the amount of sunlight.
That's why CO2 levels have been increasing for 200 years. If plants could grow faster, the more CO2 there is... then CO2 levels wouldn't have increased so much, would they?

All nuclear power produces plutonium the most toxic substance known to man.. Burning fossil fuels encourages plant growth and he is safe power. Nuclear power is also horrendously expensive. And just plain dangerous.

@JonThm What's wrong with nuclear power?

@RoethlisCrosby President Obama had to clean up the mess after 8 horrible years of Bush. I think he`s done ok. He took office in the middle of a big crizes, and he`s turned the economy around. It`s growing, and unemployment is going down. I would consider voting for Huntsman, but the rest of them is totally out of the question. The president will get my vote in November.

@40stenquist Well. I`m with you. I`m going for the president this fall. The GOP is too crazy. The tea party is a disaster.

I am not American and haven't followed the presidential candidacy tv shows; this was the first time I have heard of a republican candidate that accepts modern biology/science. Are there more like him?

@misium maybe...

@jacobpaprotskiy He might have meant the exhaust ozone pollution on the ground level (ozone is poisonous), not the ozone layer in the stratosphere. Given the level of his response he might have meant the actual ozone layer though. I bet he doesn't know the difference.
The hilarious thing is that he clearly hasnt looked into it at all. He is simply parroting whatever he has heard elsewhere.
