@Bassfiend567 Because Timo Kotipelto was a relative unknown before joining Stratovarius, whereas Andi Deris was already well known as Pink Cream 69's vocalist, so Michael Weikath would not become aware of Kotipelto's existence until it was already too late. Also, there's the issue of geography. Helloween is based in Germany, where Andi Deris also lives, while Timo Kotipelto lives all the way in Finland.
