Well just to prove one of my collections actually flies there it is. I use a dual skys 40amp ESC, Hitec HS65MG sevros and for tail use a HS81, motor is an Eflite 4200KV from a blade 400. use 2 X Turnigy 2200 batteries, yes its a little heavy but i can get around 10mins of hovering and 12-15mins flight as long as there is no wind, receiver is an AR6200 has a genuine trex head assembly and frame is a HK450. It is very hard to keep steady in any wind, i use only 30% swash mix and 10% expo on the swash control to smooth it out and 5% on the rudder so it doesn't behave like a 3d model. it tends to go into forward flight and stay there and same in reverse so it handles more like a proper scale setup to some extent, but hey it was a fun build reasonably cheap and it flies ! anyway that's all.

  • i get same times with 1 3000 mah turnigy 20/30c lipo

so this rig with 4400mah seems not very efficient ,,glad your esc can pull it off and doesnt smoke out

  • @bassax7045 - You have the same setup in a MD500 fuselage ?? the air flow is considerably different to pod and boom, the weight is a lot more and teh head speed I run is probably a lot higher than I would normally run on a trex 450, the motor in this is actually quite efficient but the loss of lift from the fuselage being in the way is the only reaosn i use the larger batteries, and I only run them down to no less than 30% of teh charge, what is your setup ?

    cheers
