Okay this is my opinion so please don't send me a bunch of nasty comments. I think she's awful, she takes all kinds of liberties, half the time you can't hear her. Maybe I'm spoiled from listening to Maria Callas. I wish she would just sing it straight without all the frills and embellishments and her personal quirks thrown in. Maybe I'm a purist but I hate the way she sings.

María Ewing is not a soprano!! is a mezzo, and one of the best Carmens in the world!! Please, get the correct information.

@cantanteporsiempre She has sung both mezzo-soprano and soprano roles. Those mezzo-soprano roles didnt demand low notes, while the soprano roles required the typical soprano's high notes. So she is most suited as a soprano, I think.

i'm searching for a lillte song/music-thing from carmen, its the toreador singing, but its only him and carmen on stage, like the second she falls in love with him, or something... i absolutely love that tune, but cant find it on youtube, because everytime i write toreador, just the scene at the inn comes out...

@Roterose987 Hello Roterose, there is not a moment in the opera that Carmen is alone with Escamillo. Other scenes of Carmen and Escamillo (excluding this one) is when he comes to meet her (PART 16) and after the wonderfull "les voici" (PART 19). Maybe you mean a scene of Carmen and Don Jose being alone? If you give me more details I ll may be able to help you. Greetings.
