Ancient Drugs

Join Dr. Andrew Weil and other leading physicians and scholars in this often-surprising look at the long history of drug use in different cultures worldwide.

Since mankind's beginning, in every civilization, human beings have found ways to alter their consciousness in search of something "greater" than everyday reality. To this end, we have indulged in and experimented with all manner of frightening, toxic, even potentially lethal substances, in many different rituals.

ANCIENT DRUGS delves into mankind's psyche in search of the key to our pervasive drive to experience something "beyond." Psychologists and physicians, including Dr. Andrew Weil, world-famous author of the bestselling Spontaneous Healing, offer insight into the physical and mental mechanisms and motivations behind this universal desire. Historians and spiritualists explore the ancient rituals of cultures worldwide that have sought visions and truth through altered consciousness, and illuminate the terrifying, exquisite visions that are revealed to those who journey beyond the constraints of the conscious mind.

  • Under Constitutional/Common Law, if no-one has been harmed, no loss has occurred and no damage has taken place then there has been no crime!

So why are people in prisons for this? Simple. MONEY and POWER!

It's got nothing to do with laws, or right and wrong, or even your health, it's about having power over the masses and making them work for money then taking that money off them! That's it!

Plant the seed and Free the Weed!

  • according to Australian government statistics the worst drug in our country is a legal drug, tobacco. They acknowledge it kills more people every year than all other illegal drugs combined, also including motor vehicle accidents and murder.

Goes to show what the government really cares about,...

the 300% tax they make on tobacco sales!

  • "Soma" was probably DMT, it is a powerful hallucinogen that is extracted from a plant, and was used by many tribes, and still is today.

  • @cruiscinlan A drug is classically defined as Charles Evan 13 has stated. Technically not any chemical can be a drug, Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen are examples of chemicals which are not drugs. Antibiotics technically produce a change in that they kill Bacteria in your body, and hopefully make you feel less sick. This is splitting hairs, but that's my two cents.

  • Thats true its wake the inner mind...but i wanna tell ppl..too much drug..will turn in to too much depression dangerous.

  • Humans need certain use, controled in quantity of "drugs" culture to continue the evolution survival proses of becoming one step further than where we are right now, noted in particular kinds of terms. Other than that we are Doomed.

  • @charlesvan13 you're understanding of what constitutes a drug are limited - not all drygs affect the CNS, for ex. antibiotics. any chemical can be a drug, uncluding salt, sugar and even water - free your mind
