  • Nice looking motor but will likely have to be setup with a 2/1 or better ratio system to get adequate rpm(s) for 12-volts and above. Most treadmills will not reach 12-volts as a direct drive system unless you have very strong winds.

  • @Pbeas52 Thanks for the comment. Check out my new video, Second Attempt. It's bigger, greener, and geared up now. Shots with meters hooked up.

  • I am looking for some blades to produce. The material is abs simular. So i can rotocast in a couple of minutes. But first i need some blade designs to evaluate and make a mold. I have a 7 foot capability on the rotocaster. Go to matchbook69 and scroll down to rotocaster

  • @matchbook69 The blades on this video broke at the bolts when it tipped over. Oops. I made longer ones out of 6" pvc and the edges turned out much better because I made a jig for the router table to round the leading edge and sharpen the trailing edge. I only tried it once and didn't have a pole to mount it on so I took them off and made a vawt. The blades are in the basement somewhere. A while back I trimmed them so they all weighed the same, but haven't tried them since. Would you pay s&h?

    calculate shipping to

    georgetown tx 78628

  • @matchbook69 I'll see how much shipping would be for you to get it there some time this week. Maybe I can send the small and big ones for you to check out. It would be neat if you could duplicate one of my big blades and send them back when done. I still might try them out someday.

  • my treadmill motor is virtually useless. it can only generate 8-11 volts during gusty winds. it manage to hit 18 volts during extreme weather but very inconsistent. voltage below 12 is simply rubbish . No way can it charge battery.

  • @mosbysmen You just use a hollow tube to mount it on and run the wires down the center of the tube. It would have to twist quite a few times to mess that up. Thanks for the comment

  • how are you planing on keeping it from twisting the wires off as it pivots in the wind

  • @ThePJpatch Thanks for the comment. I knew that pvc blades would eventually break but I didn't think they would break the day I put it out there. That was my fault because I got antsy and set it up on an old lamp and it tipped over. One of these days I might give it another go but the motor is under the tire of a bicycle right now. When charging my battery through a diode I pedal around 14 volts and it draws about 3 amps of current. Charging 2 batteries makes it too hard to pedal.
