  • I don't see any ice pellets. And even if there were ice pellets, they're not hail. Hail forms in the strong updrafts of a severe thunderstorm. In order to have a strong updraft, you need hot and humid surface conditions, and cool air aloft. If it is cold enough for snow, there definitely can't be updraft, let alone strong updraft.
