Hurricane Irene causes the Battenkill River to flood enough to almost take out this famous landmark, near Norman Rockwells house. The whole downstreram side is bowed out from the tree hitting it. Built in 1859

  • what TREE?

  • be carefull! people dont think about debris flowing.i fish 330 days a year.i know all about it.being on that bridge not while running across is a bad move.cops have thier work cut out for them....flood tourists....

  • In 8 days as I comment here, there will be a couple of road running races on the south side of that bridge. the main part of the race will be on River Road.

  • @SuperMarioLink64 it was built in america!!! by americans!! with american resources!!

  • Had been to that bridge a few times when I lived in nearby Schenectady, NY. If that bridge is still standing, I recommend that whoever's in charge of that bridge get a structural engineer to inspect it.

  • If this was built in 1859, then how did it survive the 1938 storm, that was worse than Irene.

  • @UDubFootballFan

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • Very good footage, I've seen just about all the footage on youtube and this one about tops them. Funny how the guy upfront holds onto the bridge when he hears and feels the tree hit it. Such a sad disaster, but thats hilarious

  • Thank god this one and the Inn on Covered Bridge Green survived, taken some pictures over there, one of my favorite views.

  • @dejnoz one of the historic bridges near there went down.
