  • You cannot insert religious issues into the constitution of this country and not one goddamn lawyer has ever succeeded in doing so. If you trust and believe in the laws of this country which protect you and me, then a person's concept of justice matures and they begin to see the limitations we have. The death-penalty viewed from a judicial point of view makes perfect sense. The death penalty really belongs to the victims it affects acutely. Where does the public get off meddling in that?

  • i never understood what religion has to do with justice

  • The death penalty is bad because it puts to death some one who might be innocent. What would Jesus do? He would say no to the death penalty and would say the Republicans have had it.

  • @joeythelips69 Well it means that if Hitler had realized his sins and honestly repented and asked for forgiveness; he would be in heaven. But this is a contraversial point in christianity and there are many different views of God's forgiveness. I do believe that God would have forgiven even Hitler. Hell He may even forgive George W. =)

  • Death Penalty as a deterrent...I wonder how the countries still carrying out that barbaric penalty, think it is working for them ?

There are right now around 3200 inmates on death row in the US, that number has actually has been pretty stable the last 20 years, which means Death Penalty is not a deterrent.Over 40% of the inmates on death row are black. Most of the inmates comes from poverty stricken families, without or little education to their lives.Fix poverty and education is the solution

  • "what would Jesus do"? Am I the only one who thinks this sounds stupid? He's comparing politicians to the savior of christianity? If I was a christian, I would be pissed

  • Death penalty is too easy for terrorists. Put them in dark closet 3 feet in width and length until they die. Now that's justice. Killing them is wrong, and it's giving them a way out.

  • some people are good at avoiding questions ;). The fact that jesus is even brought up in a political debate kind of shows you how silly, gullible and immature the world is. What is even worse, is that the answer to the question would be obviously be that he would be against it. Does the commandment say "thou shall not kill, unless we as a society decides that it's okay?" lol... hillarious

  • @joeythelips69 no it does not
