This is a dance by the Maasai of Kenya to celebrate the circumcision of a girl (12 yrs old.) Circumcision is considered a coming-of-age where the entito (girl) becomes a woman.

Traditions aren't always good. It used to be tradition to leave children with mental disorders out in the woods, too. Female circumcision is torture, no matter what excuse one can come up with.

@EscargoTouChaud Oh! Then now everything is clear to me. I didn't know that was the point of female circ. but, you know, they might give you a religious justification, so might jewish do for male circumsition and sadly those are virtually unobjectable.

@y318 I don't support that either, but I would say it's a bit different for 2 reasons: 1) when done in a hospital, it doesn't hurt as badly. Some say it's for hygienic reasons, which has proved false, but for those who do it for that --> 2) the intention behind is not to take someone's sexual pleasure away, which is the reason given for female circ.
