can you tell me some secrets ?

You don't have to use white paper, you can use black or any color you like. Always start with your lightest colors first and build other colors on top of them. Relax and have fun.

I just got a set of oil pastels today, and I was more than a little nervous about using them! I usually just sketch and occaissionally use colored pencils. I was attracted to the vibrancy of color in these, and had to see for myself the joys of pastels. Your video has shown me that it really can be simple to jump in and not worry about them. The Oil Pastels that I use in my demo are: Crayola, 28 brilliant colors in a unique Hexagonal shape,(52-4628) including Metallic gold and silver. They came with a point on the end and then I peel the paper off, to use the flat side to color with.They are a little over-sized and I use a make-up sharpener for eyeliner and lipsticks to sharpen them. Try a more expensive brand called:Pastel A L'ECU Sennelier in opal essences and metallics on black or dark paper too. Good Luck, Shari Kazowie.
