The Solomon Islands is a nation in Melanesia, east of Papua New Guinea, consisting of nearly one thousand islands. Together they cover a land mass of 28,400 square kilometres (10,965 sq mi). The capital is Honiara, located on the island of Guadalcanal.

The Solomon Islands are believed to have been inhabited by Melanesian people for thousands of years. The United Kingdom established a protectorate over the Solomon Islands in the 1890s. Some of the most bitter fighting of World War II occurred in the Solomon Islands campaign of 1942-45, including the Battle of Guadalcanal. Self-government was achieved in 1976 and independence two years later. The country remains a Commonwealth Realm.

Since 1998 ethnic violence, government misconduct and crime have undermined stability and civil society. In June 2003 an Australian-led multinational force, the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI), arrived to restore peace and disarm ethnic militias.

The North Solomon Islands are divided between the independent Solomon Islands and Bougainville Province in Papua New Guinea.

  • Very good anthem, but not the best, in my opinion.

For example in the anthem of my country you can hear gratitudes to the God for saving us from troubles. But I don't think, that we have the Best anthem ever!

  • God bless our Solomon Islands from shore to shore

Blessed all our people and all our lands

    With your protecting hands

    Joy, Peace, Progress and Prosperity

That men shall brothers be, make nations see

our Solomon Islands, our Solomon Islands

    Our nation Solomon Islands

    Stands forever more.

God Save Our Solomon Islands anthem of Solomon Islands. It was adopted in 1978 following the independenc. The text was written by Panapasa Balekana and Matila Balekana, the music was written by Panapasa Balekana

  • If you have nothing good to say about our country then why are you even watching/listening to this (?) . Not everyone in the Solomon islands steal, you make it sound as if they do not steal in other parts of the country!! And so what if we lost to Australia. ( we never said we always win)

    Peace !!

P.s iiLuv You Solomon Islands :)

  • To the person who says you have to change the flag because its the same one used by the british. NO IT IS NOT. That flag was blue and had a union jack in one corner.

THIS flag was designed specifically for independence And it only became official in 1978 on independence day. I should know because I WAS THERE.

Do you even know what the stars, the yellow stripe, the blue and the green represent? Are you taught this in school?

  • nothing bad...but if this anthem wants to be the best...the musical instruments played must be others...please understand me...the Solomon Islands are heavenly...but he anthem doesn't...i would upload a better version...honestly, my friends

  • i think it's time to change the national flag, it's still the same one the british used while we were under colonial rule.

  • i like it :)

  • @ThePussymaster12 I'm from Argentina and Argentina will re caga a palo to new zealand so Ensim Callet are created all that New Zealand is the worst football team are good only oceania

  • @KoSht2 Australia doesn't have any references to God in their Anthem. I wonder how many other Countries don't make a reference to a Deity?

  • Is there a version with Pan Pipes instead of an organ? Also, Is there a place called Langoo (spelling might be wrong) near Honiara on Guadalcanal?
