@glenakin Well... the kindle will work for one whole month, with one battery charge , and you can read it under the sun, try that with your iPad ! ! ! and the eInk color technology is already here, not in the Kindle ...yet.. is called eInk Triton color ePaper display by Triton Imaging Films, Google their press release on Nov 10 2010. Sorry to burst your bubble.. but the the world is something MORE, better and bigger, than Apple iWhatevers.

No offence, but the ipad as an ebook reader will eat this for breakfast. But the kindle 2 is nice. No colours though, which is kinda funny, but still nice

If it was touchscreen like the iPhone. How could you read with fingerprints all over the screen.

Eink is to make it like reading a real book without backlighting to reduce eyestrain. Now, I agree color would be nice, but eink is unable technologically to do this. The people that make this display (Not amazon) are hard at work at figuring out how to make an eink have the ability to display colors as well. Theoretically it would use the same amount of battery in color. Touch screen however can be done and amazon NEEDS to do it.

They don't, which is why amazon doesn't include it. Using black e-ink compared to color probably triples the expected battery life.
lol..why do people need colour to read text

Color would destroy battery life.
