  • clean tranfer set before and after connection with bleach solution provided by baxter to reduce infection

  • @lips858 They didn't have that when I did dialysis. I guess they have come out with new things. =) Thanks for sharing.

  • _-`This QUESTIONS IF FOR EVERYONE ON CCPD`-_ Can I ask how long have you been doing dialysis and how many times have you been infected with Peritonitis ? And If there is someone who never been infected during his P. Dialysis, and what extra precautions did you take other than the basic ones.

  • I was on PD for 2 years and never had any kind of infection. I just followed my nurse's instructions about keeping everything clean. *shrugs*

  • MARAVILLOSA ESTA MAQUINA, BAXTER NOS LA FACILITO A MI MADRE LE FUNCIONO BIEN SIGAN LAS INSTRUCIONES DE SU MEDICO

  • To support your catheter, check out the custom-made PD Security Band! Many patients say that it's so comfortable, they forgot they have it on! Also, before having surgery for the catheter, make sure to talk with your medical team that they do not place the catheter in your belt line- Be a proactive team with them from the very beginning, especially with catheter placement! Check out the e-book 5 Simple Steps to doing PD Successfully- especially BEFORE you have your catheter placed.

  • I just started using the cycler. The first night was the worse experience ever. It tried to suck every drop out of me and couldn't sleep through the drain phase. After a few colorful words with my PD nurse, she set the cycler to tidal mode. What a difference! No drain pain.

  • im using this treatment around a year..n thnks..

it make my life more easier compare using the capd treatment~

  • I have been on the Baxter machine for two years and have found out that the pain is from the end of the cath. sucking on the tissue where it is laying in your abdomen. This pain is when the drain cycle is finished emptying your peritonium. if you are on manuals the pain is the same and you just stop and do the flush and fill. Hope this helps, Allen from Ga.

  • maybe it's a matter of air that comes to your stomach??? my mother has the same problem with pain but she was definite that it is because of air

  • Im on home Hemodialysis and have a fistula that steels my blood flow and keeps me from teaching my guitar student. I saw your video treatment and it looks like a treatment that would make my life more comfortable. Is this treatment only done at night and gives you freedom for your day time?

    Thank you.

  • Quinn---I have the same problem with pain at the end of the drain phase with CAPD. . From my experience I see that many people can successfully use the cycler, but a few, perhaps 15% cannot. If you try the cycler and have pain, you can have your nurse try a tidal program which may reduce a great deal of the pain. . If the pain you experience in the drain phase of CAPD is indicative of the same for the cycler, I don't know. Try the cycler; then you'll see.
