When Geraldine is invited to three separate Christmas dinners (she is later asked to a fourth), she hasn't the heart to turn them down so she has to go to all three, and on Christmas evening BBC producer Tristram Campbell (played by Peter Capaldi) comes round and asks the Vicar to marry him. @RaoYiLan In Britain, the Queen traditionally has a televised speech at Christmas. I believe has usually been quite personal, because it is one of the few public speeches that the Sovereign makes without any output from the government. Ruby Wax is an american comedian. Therefore I believe the joke is that the speech would be very hilarious.

I watch this every year in the run up to Christmas. This episode alone just proves why British comedy is the best in the world!

@MargeSimpson20 I think the Easter special before this actually suggested Mrs Cropley was capable of cooking normal food and that the food she made for others were just her experiments in the field of food and cooking.
