Michael Aspel (at the time a BBC Newsreader), takes you behind the scenes of Alexandra Palace and shows the viewer how a news broadcast is put together.

This film footage is from the Archive Collection held and administered by the Alexandra Palace Television Society.

  • No 1960's BBC t.v. News theme yet, What year did it begin?

  • @JHollowayNetwork I'm afraid that at present we are not able to give you a date for when the 1960s BBC TV News theme was introduced.

  • aptsarchive - Thank you for putting this film on you tube. It was nice to see my father (the sound recordist) doing his job as I was too young to remember what he did...

  • @psc631798 So pleased that you enjoyed this film.

  • @aptsarchive did it begin in 1964, 1965, before 1966?

  • At 4 mins 37 seconds I noticed that control room microphone seemed very similar to a type of Dalek equipment.

Am I correct about this ?

Many thanks for the interesting video :)

  • And all this happened from round the corner where I live! Feel so privilidged!
