Michael Ignatieff makes remarks at the Acadian Festival in Miramichi, NB. / Michael Ignatieff parlant aux résidents de Miramichi, NB, à l'occasion des fêtes acadiennes.
@Menechem - Continued - And while voter apathy may be a major problem, the first past the post system is a bigger one still. That's the ultimate reason a party can win 'a majority' without having a majority of even those who did vote.
Our major parties use the alternative vote system to elect their internal leadership, bet there's a reason for that, (because it's more fair), and yet we, the people, are stuck with first past the post?
Apathy is only one problem, and solvable, do the Aussie thing.
@Menechem - Because it's very mature for you to mock someone, whos voting affiliation you're clueless about, state a SPECIFIC party as a means of insult (and it clearly was Mr. SelfSatisfiedSmirk, who feels the need to gloat shamelessly) and then turn about and say 'Oh it's all the same anyways'. No, really it's not; 'The Christian Heritage Party' are on the same side of the invisible spectrum as the conservatives, but I bet you wouldn't vote for them. We have a multi-party system for a reason.
@PurpleGhost Any political scientist will tell you that the NDP is a liberal/left-wing organization. I refuse to continue on with someone who cannot act civilized and at the maturity level of a twenty-something. I will only say this, voter apathy is the problem, not the system. We’re privileged to live in a democratic society, whereas people in Iran would do anything to have this. Candidates were running from all spectrums of political ideologies, they had a chance, they ignored it.
@Menechem - First YOU'RE your ASS-supmtions are wrong. I am not a liberal supporter. I'm an NDP supporter. And I actually HATE Jack Layton and wouldn't want him as PM either, I only vote for them because I like my MP.
Second, what fucking proof have you got that he has Canadian interests in mind, because he says so?
He got 40% of the vote, while the other 60% go unrepresented. The f-ing majority?
You know what I AM hurt about? That the system is so f-ed up the majority can go unrepresented.
@PurpleGhost Speaking out of hurt I see. Harper looked out for the interests of Canada, PERIOD! Canadians obviously did not trust him, or your party enough, that they voted in a Tory majority (I'm grinning ear to ear while writing this), and an NDP opposition. Show me where he's been self interested, you're highly delusional! First Dion, now Idiot sorry, Ignatieff), your party is whats wrong for Canadians, last night proved it.
Dear Mr. Ignatieff, I bid you good luck in your intended teaching career. I hope that it allows you a more comfortable life, than politics would have, or even could have, afforded you, at least mental health wise.
Woe to that which could have been, for it is never to be seen.
Possibilities never played, and eventualities long delayed.
Let them not trouble your mind, life is for living; play, sleep, dine.
@Menechem - Harper, who has spent his time ass-kissing american political sentiments, admits proudly to having taken republican tactics into Canadian politics, and is just as rich and out of touch with the poor, as any other rich asshole, has NOTHING to offer Canada.
However, we've got him now for four years at least, lets see what he does. I hope, for all our sakes that you are right. But I highly doubt it. He's been a self interested asshole all this time, don't see that changing.
hi michael. do you remember saying you 'weren't loosing any sleep ' over the dozens of innocent civilians who were killed in Qana Lebanon by Israel's invasion. These included dozens of children and babies. I know you apologized but that doesn't mean anything. Shame on you and on your lack of humanity.
Michael, why must you lie. Not once did the minister mislead, nor did Ms. Oda forge any documents. You had an oppertunity to ask questions you never once asked, nor did any other parties ask.Do us all a favour and go back to the States, you're not welcome here in Canada! You called America you country, than go home. You're nothing more than a Liberal liar, who does not know anything about what Canadians want.I speak as a one who is not middle class, but one who lives in poverty.Harper's good for Canada!
