After discovering my NEW computer can handle recording both mp3 audio and my guitars at the same time, I bring you yet another side of me, the Bass.

This is my first Bass guitar that I got in 1997, a 1987 B.C. Rich Ironbird bass, NJ Series. It has been modified with Seymour Duncan Invader pole pieces in place of the original slugs that were in the pickups, giving it a Fender Precision on steroids kind of sound.

  • Cool bass lines! Great playing! Gotta like the beginning lyrics "I'm comin around..." I almost forgot these songs until recently when I started watching all these Cars videos on Youtube. Panorama - a quirky but great album. IMO One of their best along with the first two.

  • DANG,,,,,Benjamin Orr not only Kicked A@@ playing bass in this song, but he also sang lead on this song and looked Yummie Hot!

Cant stand it,,,,,he was simply amazing! Really great bass playing creepingnet!

  • @THECARS7879 I totally agree.....diggin this......I hope this guy can post more "Cars" tunes playing bass.

  • hey this is really good!

  • I've been playing the Cars since the 80s... great job man. you nailed it! More than meets the eye...

  • I had two Warlock basses, I would love to own an I ronbird. On a different note (no pun intended) Benjamin Orr played cool bass lines. Never got credit for it.

  • very dark sound

  • I think you'd still be able to order a custom shop Ironbird, but I don't think it would be the Mk1 body - more likely something a lot later.

Plenty of Ironbirds floating around if you look about. I got mine by randomchance, an import Mk1 Ironbird. Not the best of the breed, but a real nice bass.

Only complaint is that they're massively neck heavy - plunge is a real issue; but they look the business, which is what draws people in.

    Hope you find one!

  • sadly no they dont make them anymore but maybe iin the future cuz i want an ironbird bass like crazy

  • do they still make ironbird basses?
