Took a walk into the chickadee forest. It is best to know a little 'chickadee' language when visiting...they were very playful today. In the past two days we've had 6 1/2 inches of snow:)
My neighbors left the acres of land behind their houses alone.
This is a good thing. Dense shrubs, namely pricker bushes, provide birds and many other critters a safe place to live. The only problem is the creeper vines. They creep up the trees and pull them down. Even the strongest trees cannot withstand these vines after years of stress.Blue Jay city and Cardinal City (giant nests) are up in many of these trees...

  • It's nice to see that they trust you enough to feed from you hand. I have tried this numerous times with the Chickadee's near my feeders but none has landed on my handyet. They have come close, a few inches but fly away. I'll keep trying and seeing you do it is a joy to watch :-)

  • Charming dinner guests! :-)
