While recovering my camera traps from the Long Island Sound waters at Avery Point, we spotted a juvenile Reef Butterflyfish (Chaetodon sedentarius). Every summer we get many tropical fish that are brought up as eggs and larvae on the Gulf Stream and brought to Long Island Sound by warm core rings. Unfortunately they are not long for the world now. As temperature continue to drop, they will not be able to survive.
