Models like Alek Wek and Liya don't get the same recognition because they are ORIGINALLY from Africa and not from the US or Europe like Tyra or Naomi. Even though they grew up or eventually learned speaking English which is very important in this business, there's still the social barrier about initially growing up somewhere else. With that being said I think Liya is much more beautiful (inside and outside) than a Naomi Campbell ever was.

Why does it matter who gets the title of "most beautiful black woman"?
There is no reason topit women against eachother.
However I agree to some extent, in the sense that I do not feel as if Liya Kebede gets AS MUCH recognition as she deserves and I would much prefer to see women who are using their fame and talents for the benefit of the global community in fashion than women who are established models but are still limiting themselves to only being seen as blank canvases.
