Using ATVs or buggies, dogs with tracking devices, short wave radio communication and determination, the Florida Fish & Wildlife (FWC) Panther Project Team divides and sets out to catch and collar a Florida Panther.
Panther Project scientists use information received from each panther's collar to study habitat selection, the genetic health of the species, and to monitor the population in order to ensure its continued recovery. (via David Onorato of FWC)
How can you help? Buyaplate.com and put your money where your heart is. The panther study and help for the species depends on funds from the sale of the specialty license plate.
(Some of this footage was shot with a GoPro camera strapped to a biologist's head... which makes for some interesting video.)
