Homemade Wireless magnetic door locking system

Here is a little project I worked on during my day off. Its an RC car steering coil and magnet attached to an adapter which is hooked to a wireless remote control 110 outlet. The arm of the magnet is attached to a sliding pin door lock.

To lock it, I connect the battery pack to the hidden nails going through the door. The nails are connected to the same circuit so I can reverse the polarity and make the lock move in place.

ammmm... this is pretty crapy done work. if the door is just a bit pushed, it would'nt work. go to so electronics shop, and buy yourself a car "central locking mechanism" (have o idea, how it's called in englis, but this is crude translation) and ues it instead. and for god's sake put it inside the door, not just screwed on it. this looks like crap

I think ingenuity is cool...in all it's forms...so kudos.

With that being said...

I remember as a younger man being heavily into car audio equipment and an elder giving me this advice when designing systems: There's never a good reason to out-perform your weakest link, when you should instead be improving that weak link instead.

In other words, the two wood screws, screwed into the moulding, that hold the female receptacle for the lock...are the weakest link.

I could SO have a use for this, Can you please make a tutorial on how you did this? Also can you make it lock and unlock remotely? Would be nice to lock the door when I'm out
