Yes.
In the beginning for Mugabe it is about providing genuinely good governance.
Then it becomes about self interest...money and power and the attrocities he must commit to gain them.
Eventually his activities become widely known.
Then it becomes about desperately evading justice for the crimes that he & his friends committed in the accumulation & retention of his fortune and power. He KNOWS the world will not let him off easy, so he refuses to resign hoping to die in office.

Yes it is true.
EVERY one of us here will agree (some reluctantly) that Mugabe was a geniune hero and a winner and DID actually provide a high standard of governance and set worthy ideals.
What has become of him and the slide by him and his party and those who influenced his is an utter disgrace. He is now a monster. No one can deny it. He deserves the worst of fates possible. But let us not focus on him alone. Those who supported him, and benefit from his crimes must also be accountable.
