  • Larry Walker is a top 15 hitter ever! Sure his numbers were inflated by playing at Coors, but his numbers in Montreal were pretty damn good. He has a career OPS of .965 and played STELLAR defense over 17 seasons. Why is there even a debate?

  • @ChrisHartig44 He hit just as well on the road as he did at coors. That shouldn't even matter.

  • @AllThingsRockies Exactly. I hope Helton doesn't get screwed. He also put up fantastic numbers and is most definitely deserving a deserving Hall of Famer.

  • @ChrisHartig44 Yeah, but I feel that Helton can get in easily. He doesn't just hit home runs, he's 24th in doubles and still climbing. He is also able to get a lot of walks, and his defense is AMAZING!

  • I am not saying Walker shouldn't be in. He is borderline for me. But let's look at your reasoning:

#1: Never took the game for granted. I'm sure there are others who didn't. Are they in?

#2 Rich Reese made it the World Series in 1965, is he a Hall of Famer?

#4 Terry Pendleton won the MVP in 1991- HOF?

#5 Garry Maddox won 8 Gold Gloves- HOF?

#7 Darrell Evans and Dave Kingman had over 400- HOF?

#10 A weak ballot shouldn't automatically mean election.

  • @AlecBoy006V2 Well you say all of those people did one of the things that larry walker did, but not ALL the other 9. And #10 means that a weaker draft class gives him an advantage in the voting.

  • For sure he's "most famous" for his days with the Rockies. He was my favorite player in the game while he was with the Rockies AND THEN I got to see his last 2 years in St. Louis. Being a Cardinals fan, watching two of the best outfielders of all time play in the same outfield (Edmonds and Walker)...well I'll never forget it. Even though it was the end of Walker's career, it was amazing. Realistically, I think both of them are borderline hall of famers, and I really hope they get in someday.

  • @AllThingsRockies Others played in multiple World Series who did great things and all. And while it is your opinion, and while I do think Walker has a HOF argument, I do think you'll need to convince me more than just what you listed.

He might be bumped up a little bit but I can't see him going from 20% in 2011 to 75% in 2012.

  • Thanks For All The Comments!

  • @stlcardinalsfan202 Because he actually was on a team that had a good pitching staff. Besides, he didn't do a whole lot, compared to what he did as a Rockie.
