  • Dude, how good were your seats? Anyways, this whole thing with Magnuson and Pilote was amazing. Although, it was five years late. This should have been done as soon as Maggie was killed. BTW, does anyone else think that Pilote was an afterthought? I know he was good, but when I think Blackhawks #3, I only picture Magnuson.

  • My seats were section 112 row 9. I personally think that the #3 should have been solely retired for Pilote, and not for Magnuson. Magnuson was a great person, I met him a few times, but his on ice performance does not warrant having a number retired. I mean Maggie is not even in the hall of fame! Pilote was probably the greatest defensemen of all time when he retired, and he definitely deserves to have his number retired.

All in all it was a great night.

  • Yeah, I'm only 19, and it's a shame I never got to see him play. I haven't found much footage of Pilote though?

Just a side note here, He was my coach in minor hockey for a few years. Amazing coach. Very strict, but made me SUCH a better player.

  • I think why they retired #3 for maggie and pete magnuson died and he came to the aid of a teammate

  • Gotta agree with both of you. Being 36, I never had the chance to witness the brilliance of Pilote live, only later through video. I was fortunate enough to watch Maggie play and coach and later on work with him. While Pilote was an incredible defenseman and a Hall of Famer, I think that there was more to the Blackhawks wanting to retire both of their numbers. Keith gave so much to the city of Chicago that not honoring his number would have been disgraceful. Sometimes off-ice performance matters
