@astrofrk Well for one it can provide real time information rather than just a snapshot, and it can easily and quickly relocate. I do agree that satellites are useful but i don't think it made them obsolete considering the last flight was in 1999.

@cvunit The SR-71 was made obsolete by spy sattllites as it's mission was for spying during the cold war. Think about it: What can the SR-71 do that a sattelite can't do non-stop for years, unmanned. Still, it's a hell of a plane that set records unmatched to this day. Who wouldn't want to fly in it just once?
