The sun was indeed shining brightly on My Old Kentucky Home recently as the winners of the 2011 Adopt-a-Highway poster contest were honored. The purpose of the contest is to increase environmental awareness among children. Over 2,400 students competed this year in four age categories. The first, second, and third-place winners in each category were recognized at an awards luncheon at My Old Kentucky Home State Park in Bardstown. The first-place winner in each of the four categories received a $100 savings bond, while second- and third-place winners each received a $50 savings bond.  All winners received framed prints of their posters. The Transportation Cabinet urges students and teachers to get an early start on the 2012 poster contest. The Cabinet will begin accepting entries on March 1, 2012. Visit adopt-a-highway.ky.gov for more information.
