Hey everyone,

A new original I made on a day when I really should have been doing coursework instead... Oh well!

For anyone who's interested the first vocal sample is by Charlie Chaplin from the film "The Great Dictator" and the second is by Al Pacino from the film "Any Given Sunday."

I really hope you enjoy and criticisms are always welcome! Apologies for the generally terrible recording and mixing of the song, it's something I'm trying to work on.

- Alex

All credit for the vocals go to the original performers... Obviously

  • @bakedbean1232 :D awesome use of a pich shifter

its going great, working on a little project with apple loops trying to make an original song type thing. ive finished all the automation, effects, etc, ive just got to finish mixing and then have a go at mastering :D, il probably finish it next lesson :) when its done il put it up here so you can listen to it, the sounds arnt anything special, just some loops and presets, it was just a way to use some of the production techniques :) hows work?

  • @bakedbean1232 Haha that would be fun but i dont really have the equipment, im just using the stuff at the ACM really, you'll learn about it all later on, so i would save those files and store them somewhere you wont forget them on your comp, then you can re-do it later on :D. if i were you i would record as many ideas as possible and then have a folder for ideas, put the name of the song in the next folder and then the different parts in the next one. so its nice and organised for later on.

  • @ISN1P3DI Yeah it sounds a bit messy atm, maybe I should send it to you and then you can fix it all for me! xP

Everything was done on just my Lag and my POD Xt. I also used my droptune pedal to pitch-shift the guitars for the harmonics and bass. Thanks for the advice man :)

We haven't actually really done much recording yet, still learning the basics. Hows things with you? :)

  • :) nice one, what did you use to record it? hows your recording going :D? because you've got 3 guitars it would probably be worth using a light reverb and pan to one side on the acoustics, and EQ it to be quite a bright sound, and then compress your lead guitar a bit more to bring it forwards to create a bit more room in your mix :) (we've been doing mixing in mastering in my class XD) but it sounds great but a little cluttered at the moment, im sure with a little work its gonna sound epic
